In summary, on Day 1 of Dialogic Reading, you introduce the book and read the book aloud to the children. On Day 2, you point to realistic and identifiable objects illustrated throughout the book and ask “What” or “Who” questions to prompt the children to label the pictures. On Day 3, you continue to point to realistic and identifiable objects illustrated throughout the book and ask “What” or “Who” questions to prompt the children to label the pictures. You also refer back to pictures discussed on Day 2 and review those target words. Once children are familiar with the important vocabulary throughout the book, the group is ready to begin Day 4 of Dialogic Reading.
