Director’s Corner/Making Connections

In this final section, Dr. Argüelles provides us with two important concepts to think about when providing quality instruction in VPK classrooms. The first one includes three strategies for providing structural feedback. These strategies would be a beneficial model to many teachers. As we know, some teachers use these strategies automatically and do not often realize what it is they are doing. As a director, you can use classroom observations to find evidence of a teacher using these strategies. Take the opportunity to provide “structural feedback” indicating what you noticed and how that supports the English language learner as well as other students.  Also consider using the following clips to support your teachers and their instructional practice.
