You can introduce vocabulary using any of the four strategies included in this folder, and reinforce these words using the ideas in the text below. In addition to the four strategies in the Language and Vocabulary folder, there are times when you just want to share a story with the children. Shared reading also provides a variety of different opportunities to incorporate language and vocabulary into your classroom. Remember, books provide an opportunity to teach new vocabulary to the children, but this is only the beginning.

To help you in making a book selection the following printable document provides a quick look for some things to think about when Planning your lessons. Remember reading to children is a powerful way to support early reading success for young children. Being more strategic about the book you read and why you are reading it will provide children with a richer experience.
