Routines are perhaps the most important factor in effective classroom management. Establishing and maintaining consistent routines helps children know what to expect throughout the day. Routines help the English language learner to mentally prepare for activities to come. Consistency in classroom activities supports the child’s notion about what to do, when, and where so that she/he does not have to rely on oral directions.
