Section 3.3
Legal Responsibilities and Accountability Measures

Introduction

In the last section you had the opportunity to access the policies, procedures, and forms related to VPK. This section will focus on the legal responsibilities and accountability measures that have been put in place for providers of VPK services. You will review the Provider Agreement, which you are required to sign once you are approved to be a VPK provider. It outlines your responsibilities to both AWI and the local coalitions.

All children who attend kindergarten in public schools and those children who previously participated in VPK and attend kindergarten in nonpublic schools will be administered the Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener (FLKRS). FLKRS is administered within the first 30 days of each school year and provides objective data concerning each student's readiness for kindergarten and progress in attaining the VPK performance standards. You will view a short video segment, where Martha Haynes, Ph.D, Director of Accountability & Quality Assurance, DOE/OEL, describes the FLKRS and how data will be used to determine program effectiveness.
