3.1.4
Providers

The VPK program began in 2005-06 and the school year and summer program combined served 105, 896 children. There were more than 4,200 VPK providers statewide in the school year program, of which 79 percent were private providers, 18 percent were public schools, and three percent were family child care homes.

As of January 24, 2007, 107,261 children were served in the 2006-07 school-year program.

Once you complete your paperwork and are approved as a VPK provider, a profile of your facility will be developed and displayed on the DCF website. Families who are interested in enrolling in a VPK program can access this information online. This is a great marketing tool for your VPK program.

The profile will include the type of program you provide, any additional service options available, and a history of inspection reports.
