Agency Roles and Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of each of the agencies charged with the implementation of VPK are outlined below; consult the links provided for more information.

AWI—Day-to-day operation of the program, including the development of policies and procedures.  AWI is responsible for the payment and attendance system, training and technical assistance to local coalitions, and the Florida Early Learning Advisory Council.

DOE—development of the VPK standards, professional development (such as the Emergent Literacy module and the VPK Director Credential), and articulation, assessment, and accountability.
